Kim & James

The Wedding Day

This is a brief overview of what will be going on throughout the wedding day, and will likely be revised as we get closer to the big day.

3:00 pm: Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony will be held at the Church of Saints John and Paul in New Maryland (for directions look here)

We are both Catholic, so the ceremony will be a full Catholic mass; expect it to last about an hour. We'll have friends doing the readings and singing, and a friend of the family has agreed to officiate, so it should be fun.

The ushers will be there at least half an hour beforehand to escort guests to their seats and hand out programs, so you can arrive early if you wish (but try not to be late!). Though the church isn't as large as some, there is lots of room and plenty of seats, so don't worry about having to stand.

4:00 pm - 5:30 pm: Pictures

After the wedding, the two of us, along with the wedding party and family, will go off with the photographer to take some pictures. We know this is often the boring part for the guests so we've tried to schedule enough time to get lots of pictures without allowing too much time for boredom.

If the weather is good then we'll probably have some fruit and veggie trays placed on picnic tables just outside of the New Maryland Centre between 4:30 and 5pm (more on this later as we work out the details). If the weather is bad this may happen inside, although we're trying to not get in the caterer's way.

You should feel free to go off and do something else for a while if you wish. The Regent Mall is 10-15 minutes away back in Fredericton, or there are places nearby where you can get coffee or a snack. The grounds around the reception site are nice and have play areas for kids.

If you'd like, you can come and take pictures with the main group. When we know exactly what the plan is, we'll post the details here.

5:30 pm - 6:00 pm: Receiving Line

We'll be doing the receiving line at the reception site, the New Maryland Centre, just before the reception starts. This is mostly so that we're not in the way of people coming to the 5 o'clock mass at the church.

The Centre is almost right across the road from the church, off the main highway behind the baseball fields (for a map and directions go here)

6:00 pm onward: Reception

We're aiming to have the food out somewhere around 6:30 (this may be refined later) and it will be a buffet. We'll probably have people find their tables first and send one or two tables at a time through the buffet.

There will be a cash bar, and a bottle of wine for each table.

We'll have a DJ playing quiet music through dinner and there will be a dance after everyone is done eating and the speeches or toasts have been given.

Sunday Morning

11:30-2:30: Barbecue

The day after the wedding, Kim's parents are hosting an informal barbecue at their home at 210 Liverpool Street. Feel free to drop in anytime between 11:30 and 2:30 to enjoy food and refreshments!
